The association is incorporated by a group of business leaders as a not-for-profit organization

This group of individuals guided the organization through its formative year of operations.

July 14th, 2023

Submits Comments on National Policy 58-201 Corporate Governance Guidelines

The LGBTQ+ Corporate Directors Canada Association recommends the adoption of Proposal B, with the additional reporting extended to Executive Officer positions, requiring companies to report on the number of members of each of the four designated groups, as well as women, on their boards and in executive positions, along with written strategy, policies, and measurable objectives. Companies will be required to use a standardized table.

Presents at Investment Industry Association of Canada Conference on Social and Governance Issues

The Social and Governance aspects of ESG have long been neglected, and as a result, awareness of factors, considerations and impact are scarce. It’s time to pivot, and this one-day conference was a great start.

Attends Inaugural LGBTQ+ Corporate Directors Summit in New York City

Interim Report on Canada’s Lavender Ceiling Released

We released our commissioned independent academic study on the status of LGBTQ+ individuals on Canada’s corporate boards. This pioneering study by the Institute for Gender and the Economy at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, supported by the LGBTQ+ Corporate Directors Canada Association, quantified LGBTQ+ representation among board members of Canadian companies.

Op-Ed Published in the Globe & Mail

Jane Griffith, the executive director of the LGBTQ+ Corporate Directors Association of Canada, and the managing partner of Griffith Group Executive Search and Sarah Kaplan,founding director of the Institute for Gender and the Economy at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, authored this highly regarded opinion piece in Canada’s national newspaper.

Association Rings the Closing Bell of the Toronto Stock Exchange

Members of the Advisory Board and management were joined by TSX management, representatives of the Institute of Corporate Directors, the Canadian Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, Capgemini, and other special guests.

Hosts Strategy Dinner with Business Leaders

The dinner was held at the National Club and hosted by the President of Capgemini Canada. Those in attendance included seasoned corporate Board members, board-ready LGBTQ+ individuals, and representatives of the Association. The group discussed strategy to advance corporate board diversity in Canada through an LGBTQ+ lens.

Rings the Closing Bell on the Toronto Stock Exchange

As part of the Global Ring the Bell for LGBTQ+ Equality, the Association rang the closing bell of the Toronto Stock Exchange. This was followed by a dinner hosted by Ernst & Young of Corporate LGBTQ+ Board-ready candidates and existing Corporate Board members to plan for the future.
